The European Union will lend $ 180 million for reconstruction works

Posted On 09 Jun 2017

Ecuadornews:

Some $ 180 million would be channeled by the European Union (EU) through the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support projects and financially revive the areas affected by the earthquake of 16 April 2016.
Marianne Van Steen, Ambassador of the European Union in Ecuador, says that the loan will feature low-interest rates, although she did not advance the payment term.
The loan will be channeled through the Reconstruction Committee, but sectional authorities of the province of Manabi will have to propose projects, which may be selected or not. A technical assistance council will be in charge of the selection of the works (I).
