Ecuadornews:
The delivery of one million subsidized agricultural kits until 2021 is envisaged in the “Gran Minga Nacional Agricultural” plan, presented by President Lenin Moreno on Saturday. The package includes certified seeds, fertilizers, and agro-inputs, also, to support to peasant organizations that produce seeds and fertilizers of high quality.
To access this benefit, farmers must register with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), submit the request as an association or a particular producer. Then, the MAG sends the information to the UNA and proceeds to ship the kit.
Among the benefits reported by small farmers is the increase of productivity of their crops. Sandro Olivos, a corn producer in La Balsa (Guayas Canton), mentioned that the support they receive from the Government, through the subsidy of the packages, is essential for their activity. (I)
