The Hotel Association of Cuenca is declared in crisis

Posted On 05 Jun 2016

The hotel occupancy has fallen by 30%, according to Pablo Vanegas, president of the Hotel Association of Azuay. Therefore, the union has declared in crisis.

He noted that informal places that offer accommodation, roads closed by the works of the tram works; and insecurity of airport services are the causes of the problem. He requested the support of local authorities to overcome this situation.

For these circumstances, two thousand places of employment have been jeopardized, a fact that has caused that some hotel owners think of selling their businesses given the absence of tourists, Vanegas added.
