yachay-universidadYesterday started leveling classes in Yachay. A Bachelor’s degree or an engineering in one of the five areas focused on the change of the productive matrix, is the main goal pursued by the Government.

Works on the road continue, becathe it is unpaved. It is expected that everything is ready for the next year. Yachay is located in San Miguel de Urcuquí, 20 minutes from Ibarra.

Yesterday, 174 students of the 187 who obtained  greater rating than 800/1000 in the national examination for higher education (ENES), began the leveling. They received two credits on their first day.

There are only 12 seats in each classroom. Héctor Rodríguez, Manager of Yachay, explains that the goal is that the classes could be personalized. The General leveling course in integrated Sciences and engineering comprises 20 weeks of academic activities. Students receive biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, logic and English.

In the afternoon, President Rafael Correa visited the campus, and stressed the importance that Yachay will have by developing a ‘revolution’ of higher education to become a producer of scientific knowledge.

After touring the facilities, the President signed the Executive Decree for the formation of the Commission management, the authority of the University.
