The Mariscal Sucre prepares to move to Tababela

This February 19, at 19:00, the airport Mariscal Sucre in Quito will close its operation, causing cancellations and delays on domestic and international flights.
Air traffic resumes the next day (February 20) at 9:00, once the new terminal of Tababela, northeast of the city, opens.
In a statement, LAN airlines asked its customers to take precautions due to the remoteness of the new terminal. Meanwhile, TAME announced the cancellation of 12 flights (11 domestic and 1 international) on February 19, and 13 flights on February 20 (domestic only).
According to the city ordinance number 335 airport offer seven utilities: use of airport facilities, airport security, landing, lighting, parking, boarding bridge, crash, fire and rescue.
Regarding taxes said it will be modified from next week and, depending on whether it involves passengers, international or domestic flights will raise, be maintained or reduced.
The tax increase is not the only thing the passengers will have to pay when flying to and from the Tababela airfield. Users will spend more on transportation from their homes or offices to the terminal, located 28 km from the capital’s center and by a busy road mean that means a trip of to two hours in some cases. For the traveler who wants to hire a taxi, for example, a fee of $ 25 for the race has been set.
