The Ministry of Agriculture and the banana sector define agreements

the Zonal Government of Guayaquil was the scenario chosen for the first Banana Technical Board, led by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Rubén Flores, where a twelve-point roadmap was established to benefit the sector. Representatives of the producers and exporters of the fruit took part in the meeting.
During the dialogue, representatives agreed to work on the following points: port fees in Puerto Bolívar; reforms to the Banana Law and Instructions for the Ministerial Agreement 316; the laboring subject on Agribusiness Contract of Crews; a mechanism to regularize the social security access to producers. Work will also be done on environmental regulations; a campaign of international promotion of a country brand and a change of energy matrix for irrigation and drainage.
The points agreed upon include the strengthening the banana associations; controls on organic banana exports; technical institutes for training workers in the sector; tax laws; and an international campaign in defense of the Ecuadorian production. (I)
