The Office of the Comptroller initiated a special examination for the asylum and naturalization process of Julian Assange
Ecuadornews:

The Comptroller General of the State sent a notification on December 19 to former President of the Republic Rafael Correa, about the start of a special examination of the process of granting diplomatic asylum to the Australian Julian Assange, who remains in the Embassy of Ecuador in London, since August 2012.
According to the notification, which was published yesterday by Correa on his Twitter account, the exam covers the period between January 1, 2012 and September 30, 2018, and includes examining Assange’s naturalization process as an Ecuadorian citizen, managed during the government of Lenin Moreno, in charge of the ex-chancellor María Fernanda Espinosa.
The investigation is in charge of the National Directorate of Audit of Central Administration, and among the general objectives is to determine if the administrative processes and proceedings for asylum and naturalization “were carried out in accordance with National and International Law …”.
Correa, who resides in Belgium, Europe, questioned the special examination and sarcastically tweeted that the investigation “is as ‘appropriate’ as making a special examination of the appointment of a minister.”
The former president blamed the surrogate controller Pablo Celi for a persecution. “As governor just Celi, the impostor comptroller. Because of their hatred and persecution, we are the laughingstock of the world, “said Correa.
It was learned that the Comptroller’s Office initiated another special examination of the administrative and financial management related to the costs incurred by Ecuador, to keep Julián Assange at the Embassy of Ecuador in the United Kingdom. Correa would also have been notified. (I)
