The President will be accompanied by entrepreneurs in his European tour

The Deputy Minister of Negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce, Genaro Baldeón, said that the Ecuadorian Government will participate in Europe his concern feelings about the possibility  that the GSP Plus, a mechanism allowing the entry of products with tariff preferences to the European Union (EU), does not extend and ends in December this year.

The President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, has indicated that he will go to Russia, Belarus and France, accompanied by a delegation from the private sector, which will move tomorrow, along with the official delegation, which is composed of representatives of the export sector, industrial and medium-sized enterprises.

Baldeon said that Francisco Rivadeneira, holder of that portfolio, will travel soon and has scheduled meetings with the European Parliament, the European Commission, during which the prospects of the trade agreement, will be addressed as well as the situation of the GSP Plus.

The President of the Chamber of Industries and production (CIP), Pablo Dávila, who is part of the business delegation, said that the GSP Plus is an important tool, but most important is a measure of long-term negotiation and so a trade agreement is essential.

However, for Benita Ferrero, Former Comissioner  of Trade in the EU and President of the Foundation of European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, there would not exist any obstacles to overcome for the concretion of an agreement.
