Marijuana and cocaine hydrochloride record the largest seizure conducted by the anti-narcotics police in raids in several provinces. From 1st to 19th January more than 60 tons were seized.
A figure that has increased compared to 2015 when, during the same period, the police seized 54 tons of drugs: 9 for domestic consumption and 45 intended for international traffic.
This was announced yesterday by the National Director of Counternarcotics Nelson Villegas, who provided details of the most important controls executed this week, in which foreigners are involved and the alkaloid has been seized in Esmeraldas, Imbabura, Pichincha and Guayas.
One of the operations is the so-called ‘263, 264 and 265’ in Esmeraldas, where three women of Colombian nationality, who traveled from San Lorenzo to Guayaquil, were arrested.
