The US and the EU buy less Ecuadorian products
Although the US has been the main trading partner, relations with this country have slowed down; this year, with oil of lesser value, the country further lowers its participation in Ecuador’s export basket.
The US acquired the equivalent of 41.19% of all exports Ecuador made to the world; ie $ 5,315 million from January to August 2015. A year ago, however, the US bought three points more (44.24% or 7.899 million dollars) points. The growth rate fell by a sharp 32.7%.
The EU has bought less (a 7.5% decline in orders from this community group) to Ecuador and that has an explanation: it is not yet able to come out of lethargy. Purchases fell from 2,054,000 to 1,898,000 dollars.
The appreciation of the dollar, which has led to an increase of local products in relation to other currencies according to authorities, also had an impact.
