For the government movement, the vote (expected to be held today, after a long queue of interventions) involves complying with the agenda initially determined.
But for the opposition this is another topic for protest and social mobilization against the government.
With this new regulation, the parliamentary majority pretends to “fix the problems of rural land in the country.” Securitization, low productivity, conflicts in ecological reserves, large estates and smallholdings, land redistribution, are part of the problems, explained to daily Expreso the Vice President of Food Sovereignty Commission, Mauricio Proaño.
Official data show that lack of title deeds of the lands affect a quarter of a million Ecuadorian families. People can not register their properties because the procedures are long and there are only four places to do it. With the law, the procedure will be made in all municipalities and these will have a term of two years for the process. With these titles, their owners will have the option to take out loans.
