The war in Syria continues to affect civilians
355 people died, in less than three hours, allegedly for the effect of chemical weapons, of which both the Syrian Government and rebels accuse each other. In total some 3,600 patients with neurotoxic symptoms arrived last Wednesday to three hospitals in the province of Damascus, reported yesterday Doctors Without Borders.
The NGO is the first independent source which confirms the use of chemical weapons in Damascus, but warned that “we cannot confirm scientifically the cause of these symptoms”, though they described that the patients arrived with convulsions, excessive salivation, dilated pupils, blurred vision and respiratory difficulties, which were treated with atropine, medicine used in victims of chemical weapons and because of the large number of people that were treated, the drug reserves were exhausted and now the MSF is trying to replace them.
The situation will be addressed by military chiefs from 10 countries in Jordan, while the USA has already announced that they are preparing to face an eventual military intervention, but Iran, the main regional ally of Syria, warned USA the risks of a “military intervention”.
