Quito is the first Heritage city in the Americas and the largest colonial city in the continent. That was the reason why the Spanish company Marketing GSAR choose Quito for the third edition of CULTOUR, the World Fair of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, which ends today at the Cultural Center Itchimbía.

CULTOUR gathers tourism operators in countries with significant assets, who offer travel packages of their destinations to international buyers.

This year, there are 14 exhibitors and 70 operators of 24 countries, from nearby Colombia and Peru to the most distant such as Albania, Croatia, the Kingdom of Bhutan (Buddhist nation in southern Asia) and South Africa.

The fourth edition of CULTOUR will be held in 2012 in El Salvador. Organizers hope to close business in Quito for $ 78 million. (FO)
