The world prayed for peace in Syria
Convened by Pope Francis, the International Catholic community, and even other doctrines, fasted and prayed for world peace and for the desperate situation experienced by the civilian population of Syria, involved in a civil war between the Government and the opposition, which has caused thousands of deaths of innocents and that keeps the world in expectation of an attack by the United States to Government forces for the alleged use of chemical weapons, not yet confirmed by the UN.
Pope Francis appealed yesterday to “work for peace and reconciliation” and to put an end to the war which is “always a defeat for humanity”, the day of prayer and fasting for Syria was held in St Peter square and followed by the Catholic world.
Francis appealed to the world to pray for reconciliation and referring to peace added: “this evening I would like to hear all parts of the Earth shouting Yes, is possible!” And better yet, I would like those who are called to rule the Nations, to respond: Yes, we want it! “, in an open allusion to tempted leaders for choosing a military path to solve the Syrian conflict, such as United States and France.
