These are the most common reasons why you can be denied a visa

Posted On 14 Jun 2021

If you are thinking of applying for a  visa  for any of the  countries  that require it, such as the  United States  or the  United Kingdom , take into account certain details that can help you when generating the  process  so that you have the certainty that you will be able to obtain it without further ado drawbacks.

These are the most common reasons why you can be denied a visa

The  official  consular of any State, as in the case of the United States, are authorized to grant immigrant visas only to those who qualify according to the  law .

In this sense, a visa can be rejected for different  reasons . For example, if you have a criminal record, lied in the  interview , lived illegally in the country you want to enter, or your  financial documents  are not sufficient to support  solvency , your application may be rejected.

Despite what some people may tell you, luck has nothing to do with the  approval  or rejection of a visa. Consular officers make their decisions strictly based on the  laws , regulations, and  policies  of the Department of State. If you appear at the Resident Visa Unit fully prepared and follow the instructions of the consular officer, you will have a better  chance  of obtaining your residency visa.

Other aspects to consider

On the other hand, some visa refusals may be reconsidered with  additional evidence  or require a special permit (‘ waiver ‘). Likewise, there are other visa rejections that are permanent as if it is proven that that person was involved in  trafficking  in illicit substances.

Now, if you already have a tourist visa  , keep in mind that too many visits for several months or requests for a visa extension can lead to  suspicions  on the part of the consular authorities or the immigration  agent  at a border post or  airport  that consider that you are working illegally in the country or that the person resides and does not go as a  tourist .
