The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, met with his counterpart from the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez in Madrid, in a meeting in which they spoke about security and ecological transition.
The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, condemned this January 23 the violence generated by organized crime groups in Ecuador during the meeting he held with President Daniel Noboa, held in Madrid.
Sánchez made known Spain’s willingness to deepen security relations, both bilaterally and within the framework of cooperation with the European Union (EU).
Noboa also received support for the country’s democratic institutions, which Sánchez already extended on January 11, through a telephone call, after the escalation of violence that led to the declaration of internal armed conflict.
Spain also conveyed solidarity with the victims and their families, as well as with all the brother people of Ecuador, La Moncloa announced in a statement.
It was not the only topic that both leaders addressed. They also talked about common challenges, such as climate change and the ecological transition, with renewable energies as an engine to attract foreign investment in both countries.
Sánchez highlighted Ecuador’s commitment to the Ibero-American Summits system, of which he holds the pro tempore presidency, and expressed his support for advancing the thematic axes for the next meeting: “Innovation, inclusion and sustainability.”
This meeting took place within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in which Ecuador participates as a guest country. Both agreed to point out that both Spain and Ecuador have tourist attractions and they can work together to promote them.
