Thousands of ‘Outraged’ went to West Coast Ports of USA
Last Monday, December 11, members of the movement Occupy Wall Street tried to close the ports in west coast of USA to complaint about the economic inequalities. The demonstrators managed to paralyze several terminals, but they did not fully block the port.
Protests affected the facilities of Long Beach and Oakland in California, as well as Portland in Oregon and in Seattle. Police officers apprehended several people, but there were no clashes between the officers and the ‘outraged’.
The demonstrations occurred a month after police officers evicted the camps of this social movement in the United States. The most serious situation occurred in the Long Beach port. Police officers intervened forcefully to disperse 200 people that stopped the traffic of vehicles and two demonstrators were arrested. (AV)
