Three technology companies operate with difficulty in Yachay

The offer of a smart city, where companies can innovate, boost their businesses is not yet a reality in Yachay. Of five technological firms that opened their offices in this complex, located in Urcuquí (Imbabura), only three remain.
These are Athos (from Brazil), IT-Business, specialized in developing software, and the national firm Printers 3D, which manufactures computers and special printers.
In 2014, former Secretary of Higher Education René Ramírez sold the idea of a city that was to be a center for researchers and important national and international firms to develop the first technology park in the country.
In the Technology Transfer Building 1 (TT1), which is not yet finished, Athos and IT-Empresarial operate, there are no parking lots, and the elevators do not work, as well as the sewer system. the streets are still under construction. It is a permanent nuisance, says Vivian Quintela, of the Athos board.
For Athos Manager Jorge Martinez, the problem is that the government sold the idea of a city with tariff benefits, and infrastructure that does not yet exist. (I)
