The artist’s reaction came after last October 19, Lasso assured that the legislators, whom he dismissed with the figure of death crossed, “were more like Tiko Tiko or a circus clown.”
The artist took the president’s expressions as a failed attempt to violate his image, honor and good name. Although he considered the possibility of demanding a public apology “unnecessary.”
“Shameful events are not for this artist, who for more than five decades has given the country education, values, honesty and healthy recreation,” Huertas added.
In 2016, Tiko Tiko entered politics by trying to reach the National Assembly through the ranks of the Socialist Party, but he did not succeed.
Huertas is an artist of Colombian origin whose nickname derives from his real name, Ernesto, because in Colombia they are affectionately called Tiko.
The man lived for a large part in Bogotá, and arrived in Ecuador in 1973. He worked for a television channel as an entertainer, singer and actor. In the 80s he hosted a children’s program called Tiko Tiko, with which he popularized the character.
