Tintori says that Correa gave orders not to let her enter Ecuador
Posted On 16 Mar 2017

Lilian Tintori, the wife of the imprisoned Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López, said today that she was denied the entry to Ecuador by a “direct order” of President Rafael Correa, but said she would return soon, as a “change comes” to that Andean country with the upcoming elections.
Tintori, who could not pass the immigration control when arriving in Guayaquil by air, was forced to board a flight to Miami. She called on the Ecuadorian people to “activate” for the second round of elections on April 2, in which the candidate of the government party Lenin Moreno and the opposition candidate Guillermo Lasso, run for the presidency.
Lopez’s wife arrived in Miami shortly before 12 local time (1600 GMT) on a flight from a US company, and was received by dozens of journalists and Venezuelans and Ecuadorians with flags of their respective countries shouting slogans against Correa and the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Speaking to the media on leaving the airport, the political activist said that Correa is “just like” Maduro, and her denial to enter Ecuador is a violation of human rights.
She also said she felt threatened at the Guayaquil airport because of an “abuse of power.”
