President Rafael Correa tweeted yesterday that the office of the Public Prosecutor corroborated it was a mistake to point out that the former Minister of Electricity Alecksey M. received one million dollars from the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht for the Toachi- Pilaton hydroelectric plant.

Correa said that Rodrigo Tacla, a lawyer for Odebrecht detained in Spain, did not give the names of officials or projects when he declared on the millionaire bribe.
He clarified that when Alecksey M. ascended to minister in June of 2007, Toachi-Pilatonwas in charge of the Pichincha provincial government. “The governor was the one who signed a contract with Odebrecht in December 2007…”

Meanwhile, Attorney General Galo Chiriboga said yesterday that relating the former minister with the Toachi-Pilaton project is unfounded.
