Tom Sherak past away
The executive and movie studios consultant Tom Sherak, who also chaired the Academy Awards from 2009 to 2012, died yesterday January 28, 2014 in Calabasas, Los Angeles (USA), at the age of 68, victim of a prostate cancer since 2001, his family said.
During Sherak’s administration, the Oscar organization established the electronic voting system to choose the winners of statuettes, expanded from five to 10 nominees in the category of Best Picture and closed the project to build the museum of the Academy of Hollywood.
For 17 years Sherak was an executive at 20th Century Fox, chaired the national film division of that company, and was a partner at Revolution Studios where he oversaw the release of titles like ‘Black Hawn Down’ and ‘Hellboy’, among others.
