Tourism in Ecuador registers an increase of 14% this year

Until June 2014 the arrival of foreigners incremented in a 14% compared to the same period last year. The Government has allocated an investment of 660 million dollars, until 2017 to boost the sector.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, in the first half of the year 749,410 foreigners arrived to Ecuador. A 33% from Colombia, 23% from the U.S., 14% from Peru, 7.1% from Argentina, 5.7% from Venezuela, 5.4% from Chile and 4.1% from Spain.
The tourism industry in the country currently ranks fourth in the economy after bananas, shrimp and other sea products.
Last year tourism generated 1251.3 million dollars. The World Tourism Organization forecasts a growth in the international tourist arrivals of between 4% and 4.5% for 2014.
