Trade anticipated a drop in sales of 10.6% in January
The commercial sector increased its sales in December, when the euphoria of Christmas & New Years Eve were present; However, in January, the month when the bills are paid, a decline of 10.6% was foreseen.
The group of businessmen who are surveyed each month, who also spoke of a 13% growth in sales value in the last month of 2015, reported this to the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE for its Spanish acronym). In the service sector, hotels and restaurants, sales climbed up a 2.5%. But builders did not have the same luck.
They claimed that the volume of construction “fell by 3.5%” and last month it would decrease (-2.6%), according to the EMOE report of the Central Bank. And in the industrial sector, they ensure that the industry volume declined in December, but that reflects the fact that the production in that month should be ready for the higher demand.
“Overall, in December 2015, the global Business Confidence Index (ICE) recorded 1180.5 points, while in November 1,186.2 points were recorded, ie, the index decreased by 5.7 points,” according to the BCE.
