Travel Destinations are offered at Habitat II
Ecuador promotes various tourist destinations for the participants of the Habitat III summit, to be held from 17 to 20 October in Quito. However, until yesterday any of the tour packages offered at the Info Travel platform were purchased. Richard Davila, president of the National Association of Inbound Tour Operators (Optur), said that they are concerned that any of these 13 products (tours in the Pichincha province) have been booked.
The same happens with other destinations like Cuenca, Guayaquil, Galapagos, the Volcanoes Avenue, Otavalo, the train or the Amazon rainforest. According to Davila, Info Travel is the platform approved by the United Nations to sell and promote tourist destinations to the participants of the Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development. Denise Aguilera, coordinator of Habitat III, gives an explanation. Many will come for a few days with a busy agenda and, perhaps, will not have time for tourism. But they can do it after the summit and this information will be provided at the airports of Quito and Guayaquil, as well as in the stands of the event.
