The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) issued the official results indicating that the government candidate, Juan Orlando Hernandez, the National Party, led the presidential candidacy with 34.15% of votes. This was after it was reviewed the 43% of the tables.
In second place is the candidate of the political party Libertad y Refundación (Libre, de izquierda), Xiomara Castro with 28.45% and in the third place is Mauricio Villeda with 20.74% of votes. The report was broadcast by a television station last Sunday 21:25.
“We have exceeded 43% of records across the country,” said the TSE President David Matamoros. At the same time Matamoros had announced that the first official preliminary results of the elections would be released at 21:00 local (22:00 Ecuador), “or sooner if the count reached 20 %.”
The two candidates, Castro and Hernandez, urged his supporters to get in front of the lines and defend the votes.”
