Tuenti competes for the prepayment phone market
Since May 30 the Tuenti operator of the Telefonica multinational brand, sells SIM cards valued at $ 5 in supermarkets, appliance retailers, grocery stores and service stations nationwide.
The virtual mobile operator offers various prepayment services, including voice minutes, text messages, unlimited Facebook and WhatsApp for 7, 15 or 30 days, said Gerardo Suarez, executive director of Tuenti.
Telefonica Ecuador invested $ 150 million, a figure that also includes the 3G and 4G deployment works for Movistar. The prepaid market in the country is led by Claro (67%), followed by Movistar and CNT.
Since March Movistar Ecuador, which also belongs to Telefonica, launched a new prepaid offer called “Superchip,” which is a 2×1 promotion in recharges.
CNT is also present in the mobile phone prepaid market, which offers the $ 3 chip, the same that includes unlimited WhatsApp, 30 voice minutes or 140 megabytes for web browsing.
