Tunnel-boring machine arrives to Ecuador for the Minas-San Francisco plan

Fifty-six pieces of steel that armed will form the giant TBM tunnel boring machine that will drill the reservoir of thehydroelectric megaproject Minas-San Francisco, arrived to Puerto Bolivar
The diameter of the tunnel boring machine is 5,8 meters and it is 120 meters long. Its parts are came from China, which cost $ 10 million.
The customs process lavied taxes in favor of the Ecuadorian State for over $ 1’300 .000 amount.
Minas-San Francisco has a cost of over $ 500 million and is located within 92 kilometers of Cuenca, on the border of the provinces of Azuay and El Oro. Its generation capacity (275 megawatts of power) will be injected into the nationalinterconnected system. The project will use the resources of the river Jubones basin.
