Two killed in a tunnel collapse in Quito

Milton Condor and Marianella Quishpe died yesterday after the collapse of a tunnel, located at the northern end of the old Mariscal Sucre airport of Quito. Jhonny Puente, 40, was injured, but he is doing good now, said some officers from the Ecu911.

The rescue of victims who were trapped inside a car and under the rubble of the tunnel, took 12 hours from 13:30, when the 20 meter-long viaduct, which connected the Gualaquiza street with the Tufiño avenue, collapsed.

The Municipality of Quito reported that an investigation is conducted to know the reasons for the collapsing of the tunnel.
