Two men are accused of raping their daughters for several years

The Prosecutor of Pichincha is investigating two cases of alleged sexual abuse toward women, fostered by their parents. Both women are pregnant due the rapes.

Last Sunday in the South of Quito was arrested a subject of 53-year-old, who was accused by his daughter of 21 of raping her for almost ten years. The woman has 15 weeks of pregnancy, therefore the Prosecutor investigates if the baby is from her own father, with which it would be proven the materiality of the offence.

Likewise, a 64-year-old man was accused by his daughter, who has been sexually abused for  at least six years in her house located in the sector of Pomasqui, in the Northwest of Quito. The 18 year-old woman, who is also pregnant, assured to the authorities that the subject took advantage of the absence of her mother, and raped her in the presence of her younger brother.

In both cases,  it was issued a preventive detention order against  the suspects, to be able to determine the veracity of the allegations.

These women become part of the list of abused  women in Ecuador where, according to data provided by the first national survey of family relations and violence against women, carried out by the National Institute of statistics and Censuses (INEC), 1 in 4 women (25.7%) has been victim of sexual violence.
