Tyler Hamilton holds up his gold medal after winning the time trials of Athens 2004

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will formally strip Tyler Hamilton from his gold medal in road cycling that he obtained in Athens 2004 Games, due to his confession of having used banned substances to improve his athletic performance.

IOC’s executive board will meet tomorrow to modify the official positions after the stripping action.

The IOC requested documents to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency before changing positions in the competition.

Under the new positions, the gold medal will be for the Russian Viatcheslav Ekimov, the silver medal for the American Bobby Julich and the bronze medal for the Australian Michael Rogers. (MZ)
