UN Assesses Ecuador on Matters of Speech Freedom

Geneva received today the national delegation that in three and a half hours, will have to present before the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN) a self-analysis on the situation about Ecuador.

The Ecuadorian delegation consists of the Vice President Lenin Moreno, Minister of Justice, Johana Pesántez, Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño and a dozen of public officials, which must attend an international meeting that will analyze the state of freedom of expression in Ecuador.

Ecuador will present to the 192 representatives of the countries of the UN and those countries that observe the Ecuadorian government report.

The State would give testimony from three important points: from the national government, the High Commissioner of the United Nations for Human Rights (Acnudh for its spanish acronym) and civil society. (ARL)
