UN High Commissioner will visit areas affected by the earthquake in Ecuador
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, will visit this July 5th the areas affected by the earthquake that last April 16 struck several areas of the northern Ecuadorian coast, leaving 668 dead and thousands homeless.
The Foreign Ministry reported that Grandi arrived in Quito on Saturday to fulfill a working agenda with senior officials of the Ecuadorian government and visit the areas affected by the earthquake, which mainly affected the provinces of Manabi and Esmeraldas.
It added that at 10h00 tomorrow, President Rafael Correa, Chancellor Guillaume Long and Grandi will tour the provisional encampment Brazil-Leonidas Garcia School in the Jama county, in the province of Manabi.
Similarly, they will visit other establishments installed by the Government to accommodate the displaced people, said the Foreign Ministry.
