UN Reveals New Death Toll in Syria
Posted On 28 Feb 2012
The United Nations informed that the repression in Syria due to the crackdown against the regime of president Bashar al-Assad has left more than 7,500 fatalities.
The first demonstrations during the Arab Spring started in March of 2011, since then the army has crushed any kind of protest. The number of casualties given by the UN is not far from those given by opposition groups.
Homs continues to be attacked by al-Assad’s army for more than three weeks, now the civilian population can’t resist any longer the constant assaults. Meanwhile the Red Cross has been unable to establish a humanitarian path or a ceasefire in Damascus. Syria continues to live in a civil war. (AV)
