Unity reemerges in the opposition
The Venezuelan situation has always been followed very closely in Ecuador. On Monday, after learning of Chavism’s crushing defeat before the opposition unity in legislative elections, Guillermo Lasso, presidential candidate of CREO, has tried to resurrect one of the political debates with more ups and downs of 2015: Unity.
This has not been the moment to revive the speech of the need for political union, Lasso has taken the risk and has walked one step further and proposed six topics related with an agreement: the call for a referendum to revise the amendments, the re-establishment of freedom and justice and the economic solutions, which top the list of priorities of a proposal that, despite turning to life a debate that has always been on the edge of death, does not receive direct favorable responses. Sympathy, yes. Coincidences, too. But no direct answer.
