Uruguay is the Most Peaceful Country in Latin American

According to The Global Peace Index (GPI) now published for the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) indicates that Uruguay is the most peaceful country in Latin America followed by Costa Rica and Chile.

In a list of 153 Countries headed by Iceland, Uruguay ranks in 21 followed by Costa Rica (31), Chile (39), Panama (49), Argentina (55) and Paraguay (66).

Among the 23 indicators reviewed by the IEP, there is the level of internal social conflict, military spending, violence, and conflicts with other countries so far this year.

The least peaceful countries in the region were Honduras (117), Mexico (121), Venezuela (124), Guatemala (125), Colombia (139), El Salvador (102) and Haiti (113). Ecuador is in post 90, five more than Peru, but one less than the Dominican Republic.
