Venezuela requests support from Ecuador, Algeria and Russia to materialize OPEC meeting
The Minister of Mines and Petroleum of Venezuela, Eulogio Del Pino, said today (January 21st, 2016) the country has requested support from Ecuador and Algeria to hold an extraordinary ministerial meeting of the OPEC in February, and even Russia, which does not integrate the group- to also attend.
“We are making consultations, that was part of today’s meeting with our friend Minister Pareja (Oil Minister of Ecuador Carlos Pareja) and we have made consultations with the ministers of Algeria, I even talked to the Oil Minister of Russia last week, about the possibility he comes,” said Del Pino.
Venezuela yesterday requested a special meeting of ministers of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in order to take action to stem the decline in oil prices.
