Wages of the Ecuadorian National Assembly Members will be Adjusted
Each of the 124 members of the Ecuadorian National Assembly will receive a wage increase of almost $ 500 per month according to the new salary chart approved by the Ministry of Labour Relations of Ecuador.
With this adjustment in their wages, assembly members will receive as compensation unified $ 5,700 per month. Their last wage was $ 5,280, with no discounts.
To this amount of $ 5,700 it must be added $ 792 which is the amount received by the assembly members who live outside Pichincha province (the city where they work) as subsidy for those who have to travel and those who have to rent a house because of the job they have. That amount varies between $ 300 and $ 590 per month, depending on the distance of their residence.
With this adjustment, the wages of assembly members who live outside the province of Pichincha will exceed $ 6,000 per month.
According to the unified salary scale per month, set in January 2010, for dignitaries, officials and officers who are in full-time positions there are ten scales. The maximum scale is the one of the President who earns a salary of $ 6,000.
The new provision of the Ministry of Labour Relations signed by Richard Espinosa, determines that the consolidated monthly remuneration of Assembly members will be $ 5,700. It also clarifies that the measure will have a retroactively effect from January 1, 2011.
