Whale season began in Puerto Lopez

Puerto Lopez is ready to receive its first marine visitors, since humpbacks whales will begin to shake the sea and tranquility of this beach and will become the protagonists of the15th Festival that will begin this evening with the presentation of artists and folk groups and which will remain until the month of October.

It is expected that in that period around 50,000 tourists arrive to Puerto Lopez to the sighting of the cetaceans that come from the Antarctica to mate, according to municipal data, it is the same number of people that visited the beach resort in  2011 and 2012.

Angelo Traverso, Regional director of the Ministry of the Environment, points out that the controls will remain for the security of the tourists, and made a call  to visitors so that they have access only to authorized tour operators, because it will not no room to those who provide services in boats that lack security measures.

The cost of transportation for the sighting will be $25 per person and $40 for those wishing to visit Isla de la Plata, located 90 minutes by boat from the coast of Puerto Lopez.
