With a “pots and pans” demonstration the national strike in Chile began
Around a hundred of leaders and chilean workers led by the President of the Unitarian Confederation of Workers (CUT, for its acronym in spanish), Barbara Figueroa, they arrived to the ‘La Ciudadanía’ square, in front of the Palace of ‘La Moneda’, with pots, pans and spoons and thus begin the mobilization that will culminate today with the national strike.
The Union, with the support of students and organizations from different sectors, will be a national protest to demand labor and wage improvements, the term of the administrators of pension funds, free education, among others.
Yesterday, during the demonstration, a person was hit, because of this, the union leader urged her fellow protesters to move in silence until they reach ‘ La Ciudadanía’ square, where it was finally held the “pots and pans”.
Figueroa told to reporters that leaders of the CUT are still talking with the Intendency so that it respects the path that they had requested.
