Witness defends Accused of 30-S

The testimony that officer Liber Intriago gave yesterday on the Fifth Criminal Court, Police defended the innocence of Luis Martinez, accused of threatening to kill President Rafael Correa on patrol radio during the police revolt that occurred on September 30th (30-S), 2010.
Intriago, who was part of the five operating officers of voluntary surrender of Luis Martinez, quoted presidential adviser Francisco Latorre, who said that Martinez was innocent in October 2010.Given this testimony, the prosecutor requested again the presence of counsel. It was Diego, the lawyer for the Presidency, who nodded. Ramón Moreira, Nancy Naranjo, Victor Hidrovo, Bahamonde, Luis Pinaucho, and José María Jiménez Vaca also testified.
Martinez and Bahamonde’s attorneys incorporated honor certificates as evidence of their clients.In the Fifth Criminal Court of Pichincha, at 09:00 am (local time) it was installed the adjudication hearing of thefour policemen accused by the events of 30-S, the day of the riot police.
Today it is expected César Carrión’s defence counsel to present evidences and witnesses, that are estimated to be about 20. Amongthem there are the doctors of the Police Hospital.
