Workers will march this Wednesday to protest for labor reforms

Posted On 17 Nov 2014

trabajadores-marchaSocial organizations and workers announced yesterday that they are preparing a march against the proposed reforms to the Labour Code and the Social Security Act. The protest would take place on Wednesday, November 19.

“In the 24 provincial capitals workers, teachers, students, farmers and professionals will mobilize because we are against the plundering of people´s pockets and that constitutional guarantees are violated,” said Luis Chancay, President of the Front People from Guayas.

In Guayaquil the mobilization will start at 16:30 and will depart from the intersection of 9 de Octubre and Lorenzo de Garaycoa streets, next to Centenario Park.

The protest also aims to reject the ruling the Constitutional Court has approved, which allows the National Assembly to process a package of constitutional amendments, where indefinite reelection is included.
