Due to a lack of precision of Ecuadorian players, the French team ended the game with a final score of 1-0 which eliminated the Ecuadorian team of the Sub 20. The Ecuadorians had some advantage due to the humidity of Cartagena, which is similar to the one of their country. French players were affected by this aspect.

The Ecuadorian team had several missed shots and lost opportunities, allowing French team to add the victory goal during the second round of their game. In the minute 75, the French player Gueida Fofana made an empty pass that was seized by his teammate Antoine Griezmann who made the field goal that eliminated the Ecuadorians from the World Cup sub 20.
