Yachay Tech is the first experimental scientific technological university in the country, considered as ‘The City of Knowledge’, as it also includes a scientific technology park.

Yachay Tech is the first experimental scientific technological university in the country, considered as ‘The City of Knowledge’, as it also includes a scientific technology park.

With 415 students from 17 provinces of Ecuador, 55 teachers from 16 countries with doctoral Ph.D., Yachay Tech University begins tomorrow its freshman year and second leveling course for graduates who obtained grades above 938 / 1,000 in the National Examination for Higher Education (ENES).

The opening ceremony, which was attended by over 1,500 people, including the authorities, was held yesterday at the facilities of the University Experimental Yachay, located in the village of San Miguel de Urcuquí, in the province of Imbabura.

The budget for the new school year is $ 20 million. Half of this money will go to pay teachers, staff and food for students.

While the remaining half will be allocated in infrastructure and operation of the university (building of teaching and research laboratories to be ready for next year), as detailed Albericio Fernando, Rector of the school.

Nanosciences, Petrochemistry, Life Sciences, Biology, Biological Engineering, Physics, Nanotechnology Engineering, Software Engineering, Renewable Energy and Information Technology, Polymer Chemistry, are some of the specialties comprised in the syllabus of the university.
