Yesterday the People’s Summit initiated, a parallel event to the Conference of the Parts of the Framework Convention of the United Nations on Climate Change, COP 20.

In Ecuador, the Mexican Lucia Ramirez met with Ana Setarra, Karen Altamirano, Patricio Chavez and Elena Gálvez, from Yasunidos, with whom she continued the journey on the ‘Climate Caravan.’

They indicate that three objectives motivate them: keeping the oil underground, fighting against the commodification of nature and the production of energy through hydroelectric plants. In Lima they met with more groups that share their thoughts.

The Yasunidos group came to Lima to denounce internationally the end of the Yasuní-ITT initiative and the decision of the Ecuadorian government to start the oil exploration in this national park.

Today in the morning the World March in Defense of Mother Earth will be held, Moreover, they also prepare further actions with which they seek to draw the attention of international delegations in the light of their claim.

Currently, Yasunidos has added one more cause to its struggle. The group requires the release of the motorhome that belongs to Cristian Guerrero Rosendalh and the ceassation of what they see as a persecution against them.

During their permanene in Lima they plan to meet with officials and activists from other countries.
