YASunidos prepares operative to collect signatures against oil drilling

Posted On 14 Oct 2013

yasuniSeveral members of the Group YASunidos, which promotes the popular consultation to prevent the exploitation of oil in an area of the Yasuni Park, presented yesterday in Guayaquil the pre-launch of a campaign that aims to collect the required signatures, before going to get the forms from the National Electoral Council (CNE).

The members of this group indicated that through this activity  citizens were called to participate in the training process and work together in the collection of signatures  in different cities.

Nathalie Greene, the Ecuadorian Coordinator of organizations for the defence of the environment, noted that the forms will be not collected until they know how many people will be trained. She said that tomorrow they will go to the CNE in Quito, to ask for more days for this training.

“We have received a flood of requests from people wanting to add to the collection,” said Greene.

Meanwhile, the CNE has indicated its interest in  providing the training.
