135 applicants from different ethnic groups will be qualified to be on the CPC
The Citizen Participation Council (CPC) yesterday approved the report on the status of affirmative action and merit of the 135 resumes submitted by applicants to form this instance.
The Citizen Selection Committee shall elect two members of the National Electoral Council (CNE) as part of the renewal process.
Of the applicants, 19 identified themselves as montubios, 6 afroecuadorians and 21 as indigenous . Although this condition is not qualified as an affirmative action, the council shall include at least three men and three women from these sectors among the 30 best-qualified elected by public ballot by the Council, as provided in the regulation of citizen commissions´s election.
Until today, the CPC will notify applicants with their qualifications and they will have three days to file their reconsideration. And in two days, a final decision will be issued.
