2.7 million audits delay the payment for private medical centers
There are more than 2.7 million pending audits that still have to be processed to pay private medical providers (see graphic). The data was released by the IESS in a meeting with service providers of Guayaquil, the first half of November.
On the 17th of November, the director of the IESS, Richard Espinosa, announced that from that day on the payment to service providers (in a progressive way) would be done. However, the National Association of Private Clinics and Hospitals of Ecuador (Achpe) confirmed via email that the debt “is almost intact.”
The debt exceeds $ 126 billion with only 42 centers affiliated to the Achpe, according to Ana Delgado Cedeno, executive director of the organization. To this number, other debts the IESS has not made public with hospitals and private clinics in nine provinces must be added.
