20 dogs were poisoned in the province of Los Ríos
In Ecuador, the inhabitants of La Victoria part of the Mocache canton, province of Los Ríos, are still surprised, after the appearance of 20 dogs who died because of poisoning; animal advocates say that this was the cause due to the evidence found at the site.
Several inhabitants of the sector have told that last Friday around 7:00 pm a subject who was driving a motorcycle threw some bags toward the animals, which they believed contained garbage, however, after an hour, the dogs began to die with symptoms of poisoning.
“The animals around her have always been killed in this way, but this time they wanted to put an end to all of them. I do not know what is the reason, they were pets that did not harm anyone,”said Franklin Zamora, owner of one of the dead dogs, who reported that they went to all possible instances to make justice for this crime, but everybody ignored them. They said to him: “here is not justice for dogs!”, he said.
This case of animal abuse is added to the list of others that have been registered in different provinces, like what happened last March, in the commune of Montañita, of the province of Santa Elena, where several stray dogs were captured, meanwhile, this month it was known the hunting and death of a condor (bird endangered) in the Gualay community, in Cuenca, Azuay; and in recent days it became known about the existence of photographs on deer hunting in another area of this last province.
