2011 Panamerican Games: Ecuador wins Bronze Medal in Wrestling
The Ecuadorian wrestler, Juan Carlos Valverde won the bronze medal at the 2011 Panamerican Games, in the category of 55 Kilos, after winning by a fall (5-0) in the battle for the 3rd place against the Guatemalan Luis Orantes, with a technique learned from an early age in his province.
Valverde said that his medal has a greater value because he never had a previous international training before Guadalajara.
“It’s a great privilege to get a bronze medal, especially because I came to train in my province and I did not attend any national or international competition to get prepared for this game.”
The Ecuadorian wrestler asks for support to his country’s sports leaders in order to get previous training before any representation of Ecuador abroad.
